Charles A. Gruen: Charles A. Gruen is the principal of the Law Offices of Charles A. Gruen, a general practice firm which he founded in 1990. He graduated, cum laude, from New England School of Law in 1983, and also attended New York Law School in his senior year. Mr. Gruen was admitted to practice in all Courts in the State of New Jersey in 1983, including the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

In 1992, Mr. Gruen was admitted to practice before all state Courts in the State of New York, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mr. Gruen is also admitted to practice before the Courts of the District of Columbia, and in 2012, he became admitted to practice before the Courts of the State of Connecticut. Most recently, in 2014, Mr. Gruen, along with several of his colleagues from the New York State Bar Association, became admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Since he first became a lawyer, Mr. Gruen has been active in the Bergen County Bar Association. At various times, he has either been a member, or served as chair of, the following Committees: Alternate Dispute Resolution; Civil Practice; Creditor/Debtor Relations; Diversity in the Profession; Library; Professionalism in the Law.

Mr. Gruen also serves as a Court-appointed Commercial and Lemon Law Arbitrator in Bergen County, and he is on the Court’s roster of approved Mediators for several counties. He served on the Bergen County District II-B Ethics Committee, by appointment of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, from 1995-1999, and was its Chair from 1999-2000. He has been a member of the Committee on Character, which reviews applications for admission to the New Jersey State Bar, by appointment of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, since 2007.

As a member of the Professionalism in the Law Committee of the Bergen County Bar Association, Mr. Gruen has spoken on the topic of lawyers’ relations with other lawyers, as part of a continuing legal education program on the topic of professionalism. He has also lectured for the National Business Institute on the area of collection law.

Mr. Gruen has been listed in New Jersey Monthly Magazine’s Super Lawyers Section in the area of Business Litigation, and has achieved an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell/Lawyers.com.
